This blog, started September 22 2009, is written by fine art photographer Rick Braveheart. It documents his thoughts, experiences, and photographic journey during his 6-week artist in residence at the Badlands National Park in South Dakota ( USA). A detailed description of the geography and history of the park as well as Rick’s biography and residency plans can be found on the supplemental website BadlandsNationalPark.US.
As a Native American landscape photographer (Tuscarora / Iroquois) Rick offers insights and observations as well as travel suggestions and photographic advice to both travelers and photographers alike. In addition, his writings help others understand the need to recognize and honor the sacredness of the land and the need to protect it for future generations.
Suggestions on hiking and photo locations, camera equipment, and tips for visiting the park will be offered to readers, as well as in-depth discussions about unusual equipment and photographic techiques. Descriptions of specific photo locations and reviews of camera equipment relevant to outdoor photography will also be posted. too.
